RTTC Series Time Trial

The first time trial of the season is always a bit of an unknown. Fitness, pacing, and form all get their first real test against the clock—and this week’s RTTC Series TT certainly delivered that challenge.

The course had actually changed just a couple of days before race day, which added a bit of extra spice to the morning. Combined with chilly temperatures and a blustery wind, it made for a tough but honest effort out on the road.

Despite a small rookie moment—dropping a chain on the longest descent—I managed to get going again quickly and keep the effort steady. Time trials are all about rhythm, and once things settled, it was just a case of getting the head down and pushing through the wind to the finish.

I finished 5th out of 10 women, with some extremely strong riders in the field today. It’s always inspiring lining up alongside talented athletes and seeing the level of racing out there.

For me, this race was less about results and more about setting a marker for the season ahead. Early season TTs are perfect for understanding where the fitness is at and what there is to build on—and it’s safe to say there’s plenty to work with and plenty more to come.

What I love about these events is how welcoming and encouraging the community is. Whether you’re racing for a podium, chasing a personal best, or simply testing yourself against the clock, there’s space for everyone on the start line.

At Saint Piran Service Course, we’re passionate about encouraging more women to get involved in cycling—whether that’s time trials, road racing, gravel, triathlon, mountain biking, or simply riding for the love of it.

If you’ve ever thought about giving racing a go, or just want to ride with a supportive and enthusiastic cycling community, we’d love to see more women joining us. The more riders we have out there, the stronger and more inspiring the sport becomes.

This was a solid first outing for the year—a windy, chilly, character-building TT—and a great reminder of how motivating it is to pin a number on and race.

Now it’s time to build on this fitness and see what the rest of the season brings.
