Saint Piran Women’s Race team is undergoing a restructure as it heads into its 3rd year

Saint Piran Women’s Race Team is undergoing a restructure as it heads into its 3rd year.

2023 will see the current team take a change in its direction, we have always been very driven towards rider development and offering opportunity. Whilst this is still a very big factor in this new direction, we are pulling together a team which has a combination of greater experience and talent and the ability to be more results-driven. We have worked hard with our partners and sponsors to be confident in our offering which is the equivalent to what our Men’s Conti team provide for their riders, not only in terms of product, and kit but also race calendar. We have often used the word ‘parity’ and having the ability to learn from both our own set-up as well as our Men’s teams definitely gives us a big advantage.

With Saint Piran WRT refocusing its ambitions, we feel it’s vital to keep the door open for all abilities. We can now share the news of our new addition ‘0503’. This was initially introduced as a Men’s development team in 2022 and we are now adding a women’s structure within it. The Women’s 0503 team will be run separately to all other teams with its own ds and mechanic whilst still enjoying the benefits of the great support network that has been built around and within the Saint Piran brand as a whole. This team will be largely focused on rider development with regular on and off-the-bike training sessions designed to cover a vast array of topics.

Rounding off the triangle is Saint Piran Delivra, a platform whereby anyone can race in the Saint Piran kit at a regional level and have access to its extensive range of products.

2022 also saw us introduce a mtb specific platform, and we are delighted to announce that this platform is expanding going into 2023. More riders, greater level of support and a structured race programme means we can be equally competitive both on and off-road. We recognise the level of which these riders race at and will sit within Saint Piran WRT with an equal offering to their teammates who are racing on the road.

Team Director Jenny says “We are so excited to see the structure of the Women’s programme expand, over the last two years we have all learnt so much. There have been positives, and negatives, things we could adapt to and things that we couldn’t. We are so grateful to every one of our riders, staff and partners who have worked with us and we can’t wait to continue on this journey. We have many projects at differing stages, from our constant efforts to improve our sustainability with a determined focus on our recently announced road to net zero initiative, CPD opportunities for our staff and riders, the running of a South West Women’s Race League and enabling our riders to support their local clubs and schools to encourage more females into our sport. We are committed to offering the best level of support that we can from grassroots through to elite to enable talent and ambitions to be realised.”

Richard Pascoe, CEO of Saint Piran adds “Success is often measured in victories, and believe me we love winning! But real success can be measured in sustainability, development and progression of individuals and organisations. Jenny single-handedly has learned, remodelled and in many ways brought new ideas to the pathway of cycling for women. There is a successful formula/pattern of the men's team to use as a reference however what she has been able to do is bring new ideas, attractive processes and a way of dealing with our sport. I would like to repeatedly thank all of those involved in the next 5 year ambitious plans which can potentially see the women’s platform outshine the men (I say that with a broad grin!), Parity and healthy competition are two great values to have, let’s go race!”

Over the coming weeks, our social media platforms will be announcing the riders who are remaining with us, those who are moving in other directions and the new additions to our platforms. Please keep your eyes peeled for these very exciting announcements!
