Cream First Crit Series

Jay Porter was this week’s team member taking on the Cream First Crit series.

I raced the Cream first 3/4 Crit this evening solo. Which saw a nice sized group of riders, (17 perhaps?) battling the strong winds and showers on a nice slippery course.

From the off the strong riders we’re ploughing on with a group of 4 headed up the road after the 2nd lap, eventually I was able to bridge this gap, frustratingly bringing everybody else with me!!

Positions tussled, I found myself making small talk on the front at one point until the shots were fired again and solo riders launched up the road with responses all-round.

It wasn’t until the 20minute mark where the packs separated but settled with 4 of the strongest riders ahead of the rest of us…where I sat valiantly found myself always sitting into the wind for little gain…. 😅

As we neared the end of the race - into the last corner I was pushed wide from a rider on my inside, creating a little gap. Where an all out sprint to the finish line, saw me clambering to hold an 8th place finish with some very jelly legs!

Great fun and hope the riders who crashed are okay. Glad to have some points to my name and some new PBs.
