Saint Piran Pro Cycling announces participation in 2024 Tour of Britain
UK’s UCI Continental men’s team Saint Piran Pro Cycling is thrilled to announce it will be lining up on the start line of the 2024 Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain for the fourth consecutive year.
Saint Piran Pro Cycling, based in Cornwall, will be hoping to improve on the team’s highly acclaimed result last year with rider Zeb Kyffin taking 6th place on the General Classification in 2023. Zeb and his five teammates beat a number of World Tour riders including Steve Willioams and Carlos Rodriquez - who both currently rode the 2024 Tour de France.
The globally renowned Tour of Britain takes place over six stages and covers hundreds of miles, this year finishing in Felixstowe Suffolk. Attracting some of the world’s top cyclists, the race is a gruelling test of endurance, skill and teamwork. Last year over 1.5m people watched from the roadside while a further 31m people across the world watched TV coverage on ITV and Eurosport.
Team Owner, Richard Pascoe, said “It is the ultimate test for us at Saint Piran, with people watching across the world. Each year presents new challenges - our first year was tough, but last year was our most successful yet. We can't wait for it. At the end of the day, this is a fantastic opportunity to show our unique approach to racing and running a cycling team.”
Director of Racing, John Trott, said: “The Tour of Britain is the pinnacle of our season. It’s Britain’s biggest race and therefore the most important event on our calendar, so everything is geared towards that first week in September. We have world, national, European and Olympic champions in our team - and as always we look forward to setting the race alight so some of the most talented riders in the UK and beyond.”
As a World Champion and two time participant in the Tour of Britain, Saint Piran rider Will Tidball knows first hand how special the atmosphere is. He said: “From the first stage to the last, the support on the roadside for us gave me goosebumps last year. When you are absolutely at your limit, and you see Saint Piran flags and hear your name called it gives that little bit more motivation.”
Will continues “The opportunity to race in this spectacle is a dream come true. At Saint Piran we race all over the world but the Tour of Britain is truly special.”
Saint Piran will name its starting six riders a few days before the start of the race. The men’s Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain begins on 3rd September and finishes on 8th September.
