South West’s Saint Piran break new records…again at national race
Saint Piran Pro Cycling, the South West’s professional cycling team is the first team to come first, second and third at the prestigious Lancaster Grand Prix (Sunday 16th July).
The prestigious domestic race, part of British Cycling’s National Series, brought riders from across the country to compete in the one day race around the streets and countryside of Lancaster.
This is the second time this season the Cornish-based team has been on all three steps of the podium; the first being Lincoln Grand Prix. This result firmly establishes Saint Piran as the leading team in the UK rankings and follows up results in the Tour of Norway and across the Continent.
Saint Piran’s Zeb Kyffin came first followed by Devon’s Harry Birchill with Jack Rootkin-Gray rolling over in third place.
Saint Piran’s owner, Redruth-based Richard Pascoe, was delighted to see the result. He said: “We invest heavily in the cycling ecosystem across all platforms. Today’s result is a victory for all involved. Races are getting faster and organisers are stepping up by giving safe and well marshalled events. It's a pleasure to showcase what we are doing as a process.
“Today we started without Alex Richardson who is national series leader . He was the first to comment on how the young guns are doing. This is testimony to what we are about at Saint Piran. I’d like to especially thank staff, management, supporters, partners, media and our governing body British Cycling for giving us the opportunity.
“First, second and third has never been done before at this event, so finally, thank you Lancaster GP.”
