Saint Piran Women's Race Team x Dudley Crit

After a long Friday afternoon journey for all the riders, except local rider Gaby Homer, we rocked up to see what the new Dudley GP circuit series race was all about.

Day-long rain soaked the circuit, and trees limited what drying effect the sun had so we had a wet race with plenty of off-camber corners to contend with. Gridded midfield, the first lap was hectic as usual, Rebecca, in particular, making up some good ground. Then, as she rounded the top corner, a rider went into the corner too hot and crashed in front of Rebecca, and having nowhere to go, came down, sliding quite a way on a greasy surface. This caused 5 riders in total to come down, splitting and delaying the whole bunch, so the front 15 were away, and we were down Rebecca.

The rest of the race was fairly uneventful, Anna making up places to settle in the second group, Gaby and Sophie in 3rd group. Anna was best placed at the end with 21st. Shame that a spill had such an effect, but no serious injuries and onto Lancaster GP on Sunday (16/07/23).
