Saint Piran Retain Cooper Sayers, Harry Birchill, Jack Rootkin-Gray and Adam Lewis for 2023
We are pleased to have retained Cooper Sayers, Harry Birchill, Jack Rootkin-Gray and Adam Lewis for the 2023 season.
Adam Lewis
Our 2023 road captain - the experienced head of Adam Lewis will be leading from the front this year - aiming to make a big impact in 2023.
Adam “2023 is set to be a big year, both for myself and Saint Piran, with a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes! Having joined halfway through 2022 it's going to be mega doing a full season of racing with the team throughout Europe and the UK! My aims are pretty simple, to get the hands in the air as much as possible, enjoy the process and pass on some of my experiences/knowledge to the younger guys on the team”
DS Steve Lampier “We got Adam mid-season and he slotted straight into the team. Bought into how we do things, and brought some things to the table. Adam’s knowledge of races is immense so I’m going to tap into that some more and have given him the Road Captains role in 2023, the pivotal link between DS and riders without taking anything from his racing where he is extremely motivated and I need to see him win”
Jack Rootkin-Gray
U23 National Road Series Champion, Beaumont Trophy winner, and an elite kermes win under his belt - all eyes focused on 2023 for this young talent.
Jack Rootkin-Gray “I’ve found more success and happiness within the team and aim to continue that into next year. Bigger and better things to come…”
DS Steve Lampier “Young, keen, very talented & driven to learn to excel further. Jack has made big leaps forward since slipping into the tartan suit. I took some time to understand him, learn what makes him tick and how to get more from his racing with wins to propel him a lot further in his career. 2023 will be exciting times for Jack"
Cooper Sayers
Like a boomerang, our Aussie, Cooper Sayers, is back in 2023
Cooper "The 2022 season was a warm-up, now I’m looking to leave a mark in 2023 and get some big results. I am super stoked to be rejoining Saint Piran for my second season".
DS Steve Lampier " Determined and driven man from down under. He learnt his trade with a smile and a vegemite sandwich! 2022 I threw him into everything so he could learn what the races in the UK and Europe are like. 2023 it’s about results, targeting races which suit with that killer 1min power"
Harry Birchill
We’re happy to announce the re-signing of Harry Birchill - MTB racer turning to the road full-time in 2023.
Harry “I’m feeling super motivated for the upcoming season. With the collaborative, invaluable support and working as a team, I believe our hard work and optimism will be embraced, resulting in the hope of achieving goals and raising the profile for both myself and the team”
DS Steve Lampier “Harry honestly doesn't know how good he can be on the road. Like a lot of MTB racers who have turned to the road, they have that naivety, but lots of raw power and speed which Harry has obscene amounts of. Super exciting times for the man from Devon. Just no wheelies on pre-race rides this year!”
