The Cornwall Cycle Hub needs your support!
In August, Cornwall Council announced plans for a £3.8m project to build a Cycle Hub for Cornwall on a site near Newquay Airport on the north coast. This is part of the planned legacy of the Tour of Britain, which starts in Cornwall in 2021.
The facility would include:
1.75km closed road circuit
MTB & Cyclocross Track
BMX Race Track
Pump Track
Grass Track
Fitness Trail
Covered Training Area
Indoor area with cafe, bike hire, bike repair, training facilities
The Cycle hub, which is supported by Sport England and British Cycling, would be the South West Regional Development Centre for Cycling.
This would be a fantastic asset for Cornwall, promoting cycling amongst all age groups and ability levels. From kids having their first experience on two wheels, to older people wanting to explore the health benefits of cycling, up to aspiring racers across all the cycling disciplines.
Now we need the help of everyone in Cornwall to make this happen.
A forum has been set up for public comments on the project. It’s great to see so many supportive comments so far, but we want as many people as possible to jump in and tell Cornwall Council how much a facility like this would do for the people of Cornwall. We can’t over-state how important it is for the project’s backers to get a sense of how much support and enthusiasm there is so PLEASE take the time to go to the site and leave a message of support!
