SWCX Rnd 2 - Scorrier House

R2 of the SW Cyclo Cross League took place at a brand new venue in the grounds of Scorrier house. A level playing field? I don’t think so, the course was twisty grassy and very technical. The sloping course meant tough short power climbs interspersed with dead stop corners. There was also a scary bunny hop thing over a rock wall that took plenty of inspections!

Anyway, I set off fast as usual, my skillset is technical turns and no fear over the bump over the rock wall. I had a good old battle with a lady in the V40 cat but she eventually pulled away on the climbs. Then towards the end of the race I was caught by 2 other women… more sleep the night before required and more threshold training required to hold on up those power climbs. I’m riding better than last year finishing 6th overall and 1st in category. The new DAO carbon wheels were amazing and the mud tyres stuck fast on the slippery grass corners as the race progressed.
