SWCX Rnd 1 - Torbay Velopark
Cross is coming!!!!
Torbay Velo Park. First Cyclo Cross race of the season with Southwest Cyclocross.
The general feedback from all three of us that raced today, was that the ground was very dry and hard making the pedalling very uncomfortable. We all lowered our tyre pressures in tiny increments several times before the start line and even prodded our competitors tyres as well!
Mid Devon Cycling Club had done a fine job creating an exciting course with infinite twists and turns and ups and downs along the far bank. I also enjoyed the mini pump track which is excellent with short 160mm cranks.
Anyway, after nattering to all the people we hadn’t seen since January we got serious and started racing!
My race was a good one as I discovered that I was quite quick and managed to beat several ladies who I normally don’t! I finished 1st V50 and a satisfying 4th overall. Sarah Myford also rode extremely well and finished 3rd V60. Jez, now an old hand at cross being his 3rd season rode well having recently completed in the Graean Cymru UCI gravel race in Wales.
Roll on Redruth in two weeks time!
