Keltek Club S6/15TT and SWXC Rnd1
Lucy Cox has had a big week, mixing road TT and MTB.
Wednesday night I lined up for Round 4 of the Keltek Club S6/15TT Road Bike League—13.9 miles against the clock in Cornwall.
It was one of those evenings where you just want to see what’s in the legs, especially coming off the back of racing at Cannock Chase XC just three days before. The conditions weren’t exactly friendly—plenty of wind to contend with—but I settled in, kept things controlled, and focused on holding power.
Crossing the line in 38:55, I was really pleased—not just to take the top step in the ladies’ road bike category, but to hit a big PB power output too. A proper confidence boost mid-week.
Fast forward to Sunday, and I was back on the start line for Round 1 of the SWXC Series at Newnham Park.
This course was completely different to what I’ve experienced there before—far less technical and much more about speed and fitness. Five laps, fast-paced, with some long, steep climbs that really started to bite by the end of the race. It was one of those efforts where you’re constantly on the limit.
The sun was out, the winds were kind, and despite some very tired legs from the week, I managed to push through and come away with another top step.
That said, the number bib might be taking a short break while I go back to basics and work on some proper cornering skills ahead of Nationals at Margam—where I’ll be lining up next and ready for a new challenge.
A big week of racing, learning, and building—exactly what it’s all about
