South West Open Series Rnd 5

Ermington 3/4 Road Race

Early entries really help us out, so please consider entering as soon as you can.

Back for 2026 & part of the South West Series!

Join the Corries for an entry-level 3/4 road race up and down the Ermington valley in South Devon.

Race start time: 10:30am

HQ open from 08:30am & will close at 09:45am

Prizes will be awarded for the top three in each race, as well as the top 4th category rider, with several spot prizes on offer for riders throughout the field.

Please consider your impact on the environment when traveling to this event and car share where possible or take the train to Ivybridge station. The free station car park doubles up as the official race parking location.

The HQ is easily accessed from the A38 and there are plenty of options for accommodation nearby in either Plymouth or beautiful South Devon.

Refunds:

Many riders are leaving it increasingly late to enter due to several reasons. As such, we’d like to set out some refund terms. Hopefully, this gives some clarity on exactly what to expect now the BC System takes money on entry, not selection:

4 weeks out - 100% Refund guarantee (Less £1 BC fee)
3 weeks out - 75% Refund (Less £1 BC fee)
2 weeks out - Refund at organiser discretion (Less £1 BC fee)

The goal is to give you confidence if you get sick or injured!

Course Description (see info for riders for route links):

The peloton will roll out of Wrangaton at the designated start time, turning right onto the A3121 over the A38 for ~2km before taking the third exit of the roundabout onto the valley road (heading south-west towards Ugborough & Ermington). The race will remain neutralised until approximately Ugborough Garages on the left of the carriageway, however, the commissaires have the power to change this during the rollout to ensure the peloton's safety.

From here, it's a wide, non-technical descent to the valley floor, bypassing the village of Ermington before reaching the second roundabout after nearly 8km - where the A3121 meets the A379. The race will do nearly a full 360-degree turn at this roundabout, heading back up the way it came, all the way to that top roundabout past Ugborough before repeating for the number of laps written in the race manual!

The rouleurs among you will be glad to read that the finish line is shortly before the real climbing begins each lap; with a short, steep kicker within the last kilometre before 'flattening' out to 1-2% all the way to the line.
