Saint Piran Takes On Greece and Japan
It's a busy week for all of the team at Saint Piran. We are currently running a split program with two teams at major stage races in Japan and Greece.
The Tour of Japan kicks off on Sunday and consists of eight stages taking the teams around the whole country. Saint Piran has sent a team of young riders over with Josh Ludman, Finn Mason, Huw Buck Jones, and Dylan Westley all stepping up from our previous USKIS team. These riders will be helped and guided by our more experienced riders Will Roberts and Rhys Britton, and with John Trott in charge, we are expecting to be punching at the front of the race. The stages will test the riders' endurance and versatility, with a mix of flat and mountainous terrains. Fans are particularly looking forward to the iconic Mount Fuji stage, which promises to be a highlight with its challenging climbs and breathtaking scenery.
Over in Greece, Chris Lawless heads up our campaign. The team is currently racing stage three of this race, which is considered the ‘queen stage’ due to its challenging parcours. Dylan Hicks is our current best-placed rider, sitting in 35th position with a 25-second gap to first place. With more stages to go, we expect the team to dig into this time gap and support Dylan to get the best result we can. The Greek race is renowned for its tough terrain and unpredictable weather, making it a true test of strategy and resilience. The support team, including our nutritionists and physiotherapists, are working round the clock to ensure the riders are in peak condition. Each member of the squad is crucial in the push for top positions, from the domestiques providing crucial support and pacing, to the sprinters aiming for stage wins.
The dual campaigns in Japan and Greece reflect the depth and ambition of Saint Piran as we strive to make our mark on the international cycling scene. The riders' determination, combined with strategic guidance from the coaching staff, positions us well for a successful week ahead. We are grateful for the continued support from our sponsors and fans, whose encouragement drives us to perform at our best. As the races progress, stay tuned for more updates and highlights.
