Double the Action for Saint Piran: Tour du Loir et Cher and Arno Wallard Memorial Race Report

Tour du Loir-et-Cher & Arno Wallard Memorial Race Report

Last week marked a significant achievement for the team as they successfully executed a Split UCI race program. One group of riders, consisting of Jack Rootkin-Gray, Will Tidball, Will Roberts, Adam Lewis, and Loen Mazzone, participated in the five-day stage race Tour du Loir-et-Cher (UCI 2.2 Pro) in France, while another group comprising Alex Richardson, Tom Mazzone, Harry Birchill, Evan Russell, and Luacs Jowlet competed in the Arno Wallard Memorial (UCI1.2) in Holland. Such an undertaking required immense dedication and support from the entire team's staff.

Tour du Loir-Et-Cher

At Tour du Loir-Et-Cher, the team put up an impressive showing, securing multiple top 10 finishes on stages and a 5th place on GC and 4th overall in the team classification.

On Stage 1, the riders had to endure a challenging day due to heavy showers and crosswinds, with a group of four riders breaking away early on and never being caught. Will Tidball finished 10th, the highest finisher for the team, with the rest of the riders finishing safely in the peloton.

Stage 2 was a strong day for all the boys as they worked together to control the breakaway and set up Will Tidball for a 7th-place finish.

Stage 3, Jack Rootkin-Gray demonstrated his fighting spirit by getting into an early breakaway and later making a bold solo move, ultimately finishing in fifth place. Unfortunately, Adam Lewis had to withdraw due to illness.

Stage 4 was a remarkable team performance as the riders worked together to set up Will Tidball for a podium finish in the sprint. However, Leon Mazzone got caught up in a crash in the final few kilometres, but luckily he was not seriously injured. The team's perfect lead-out allowed Tidball to finish in third place.

On the final day, Stage 5, Jack and Will were part of the breakaway, with Will winning two-time bonuses, moving him up to 5th place overall. Unfortunately, this break was caught – but nevertheless, it was a solid stage for all the boys.

Arno Wallard Memorial

In the Arno Wallard Memorial, Alex Richardson we had high hopes for him repeating his victory from 2019. A very windy manic race. Alex made the front group and was up against it will all the sprint teams there Alex rolled in with the bunch.

Full Result: Alex Richardson 16th, Harry Birchill 28th, Tom Mazzone 37th and Evan Russell 39th.

Steve Lampier “I am really happy and content with how everyone is going. It’s good signs at the start of a long season and heading into Rutland this weekend”.
