Stage One of The Tour of Britain - Aberdeen to Glenshee Ski Centre

A 181.1km race from cold, wet, and windy Aberdeen to a breathtaking Glenshee Ski Centre. A day of adjustments and some very wet weather.

Team boss Richard Pascoe shares his thoughts on today's stage “Comparing this year with last year it can be described as opposites, the weather in some respects was our friends and foe today. The high winds meant a fairly controlled race for the first 140kms in much as Ineos Grenadiers were not prepared to let a group of five riders gain too much of an advantage however, the weather itself was brutal, cold and with high winds making bike handling skills a necessity. Passing Balmoral was very special and the long climb towards the ski top finish was breathtaking. What it meant for Saint Piran was a plan to keep the rider's legs fresh for later in the week whilst easing off in the last 1.5kms. For me as a team owner what was most pleasing was the long catalogue of minor incidents including changing Alexander Richardson's helmet and getting a few bikes changes out of the way this early in the race, which hopefully means by the law of averages we won’t get any more later in the week. What I love is seeing our riders develop in a world-class field that is the Tour of Britain.”

Tomorrow, we begin Stage 2 the 175.2km ride from Hawick to Duns. Make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for behind-the-scenes action, live updates and interview without staff.
