Saint Piran Trio Take National 25 Team Title
Saint Piran riders Steve Lampier, Michael Gill and Ross Holland bagged the team trophy in Sunday’s RTTC National 25 Time Trial Championships.
Michael and Steve finished in 4th and 9th place respectively, with Ross in 31st, which was enough to bring Saint Piran the team prize. Steve felt that they were somewhat unlucky individually as the weather played a big part in the race on the Cumbrian course. Both Steve and Ross were caught in a heavy downpour towards the end of the event, which was also subject to gusty wind conditions. And neither rider has had much time on their TT bikes recently, having just returned from a training and racing camp in France and Belgium.
For Michael Gill. who is a member of the Saint Piran Development Team, his 4th place in a time of 46:59 was a great result. His TT pedigree is clear, having won the U23 National 10 Mile Time Trial Championship in 2020. And he is also a member of he Scottish Cycling Performance Programme with a focus on the 2022 Commonwealth Games in the road and track endurance events.
Overall then, a good weekend on the road for Saint Piran, and attention now switches to the Tour Series and the Tour of Britain.
