Off to the north east for Round 5 of the HSBC National Road Series
The country’s best riders are heading up to the north east of England this weekend where Derwent Reservoir, about 20 miles inland from Newcastle, is the venue for Round Five of the HSBC National Road Series.
It’s a two day affair this time, with riders tackling the 79 mile first stage on Saturday and the 110 mile second leg on Sunday. Six Saint Piran riders will line up in a total field of around 120, led by Steve Lampier who is looking to get his campaign back on track and sits in fifth place in the individual standings. The team leader is also celebrating getting the keys to his first house so has had a busy few days!
Cameron Jeffers will hope to continue his record of getting into the breaks, while Will Harper will look to build on his 17th place finish in last week’s Tour of the Mendips. Joe Evans returns after taking exams but Matt Nowell misses out thanks to ongoing dental work following an accident in the Brooklands leg of the Ovo Energy Tour Series.
Ollie Maxwell and development rider Alex Platt are the final Saint Piran representatives. This is a chance for Platt to build on the improving performances he has shown already this year.
In the team competition, Saint Piran goes into the race placed sixth among the best outfits in the country.
