RIDING STYLE: Gravel & Cyclocross (CX)

BIO

I cycled as a kid like most of us did and actually did some fairly epic rides with my brother when I was young.

During my adult years I didn't do much apart from the odd recreational ride with family. But it all changed for the better ten years when I met my wife who was bicycle mad!

Three years ago I started riding mixed terrain Cycle sportives like the FlanRou OMLOOP in Somerset and several local Glorious Gravel events. In the winter of 2023 I took part in my first ever competitive cycle race which was a Cyclo Cross event at  the Cornwall Showground. To say it was a baptism of fire would be an understatement! I was surrounded by season hardy masters men who had been riding their whole life. The races last 50 minutes and thankfully you always finish on the same lap as the winner.

Now I'm in my third season and thoroughly enjoy the camaraderie and banter which is always present at these league events, I'll most likely never stand on the podium but who cares!

I've also since dipped into competitive gravel racing and can proudly say that I've raced two Gralloch's which are UCI qualifiers and last year rode my first Gravel National Championships in Dalby forest.

I'm grateful for all the technical know how and assistance from Saint Piran Service Course who supplied me with a Trek Crockett which is versatile enough for both disciplines!
