Brad gets his season under way

After months without racing, it’s great to see Saint Piran riders getting our there and competing.

Brad Symonds kicked off his season with the Elite /1/2/3 Category Darley Moor Crit on Saturday 17th April.

Out of a total field of 30 riders Brad finished fourth in a breakaway of five, with the attacks coming early and often. He said:

"I was expecting it to be full on from the off, with the race only being 30 minutes long. We managed a full half a lap though before the first attack came!

At 10 minutes in, two guys got a gap of around 30 seconds. Another two then started to bridge over, and once they got to about 10 seconds off the front of the bunch I launched my first move of the race. I bridged solo to the pairing and we then rode on to catch the front of the race.

The five-man break stayed away for the final 20 minutes of the race and it came down to a sprint between four of us, with one of the lads having slipped away with a lap to go.

The legs felt good and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into some longer races when the season fully kicks off!"
