Lampier extends his 100% TT record
Saint Piran’s time trial machine, Steve Lampier, has kicked off the season in style. So far he’s won all four of the TT’s he has entered, bagging one new course record in the process.
It all started with a win on Good Friday at the Mid Devon CC Hilly in the Teign Valley where Steve’s time of 50:06 was a new best for the event. Next up was an Easter Monday trip up to Honiton for the Northover CC 10mTT. In tricky, windy conditions, his time of 19:47 gave him the win by a mere 3 seconds.
Then it was back to home roads in the shape of the Ladock Valley 10 near Truro. In the face of a very cold north easterly, Steve took the win by one minute. His fourth straight victory came last Sunday in the Penzance Wheelers event on the Leedstown circuit in west Cornwall. Despite the win, Steve wasn’t totally satisfied with his the performance- which he puts down to ‘bad legs’ and an over-ambitious (60-tooth chain ring) gear choice.
Steve said:
“It’s been great to finally have races to aim for in the last three weeks. It shows I’m in good condition, although there are lots of areas to work on with the time trial bike. In the near future we’ll have some exciting, super-fast new equipment, so with a few weeks to go before the big events I have time to train and get everything just right as we gear up for a big road season ahead.”
