Saint Piran Pro Cycling Response to British Cycling’s Lloyd’s Bank Tour of Britain Men announcement
Richard Pascoe, owner of Saint Piran said: “This is incredible news and a huge statement on the health of the British cycling scene.
“Jon Dutton and his team at British Cycling have moved heaven and earth to save the Lloyds Bank Tour of Britain Men. Millions of cyclists and cycling fans across the world will breathe a huge sigh of relieve that we have established both a women’s and men’s Tour going forward.
“Last year we tried our best to make the race exciting, taking on the most famous riders in the world. I believe we played our part in a close and dramatic race with Zeb Kyffin taking an astonishing sixth place on GC. Two of the riders Zeb beat are currently riding the Tour de France - it was some achievement.
“Over 31 million people watched last year’s race on TV with over a million by the roadside. This event is part of what is an epic summer of sport alongside Wimbledon, the Euros and the Olympics and the more companies that understand its impact, the more partners cycling can bring on board. If the media, teams and riders work together we can make it even better than last year and continue to build a strong UK cycling infrastructure!”
