SAINT PIRAN WRT AWARDED ELITE DEVELOPMENT STATUS

Saint Piran WRT are recognised as one of a select group of Women’s teams as an Elite Development Team.

In only it’s second year, the team has proven its ability to work with riders, to offer the best rider package and not only in terms of equipment but also in mentoring, opportunity and progression.

The Elite Development Status is an award the British Cycling set up in 2020 to recognise the work of teams to support young, talented riders on their journey. Bridging the gap from club teams to those operating at UCI Continental level. Teams must meet a set minimum criteria based on the quality of support which they offer to their riders.

“We are delighted to have gained the Elite Development status, so much work has gone into our set up, procedures, products, rider development programme, opportunities. We wouldn’t be in this position without our fantastic partners, a massive thank you to you all for believing in us. As a team we took so much from our first year, we aim to strengthen our strengths and learn from our weaknesses to provide the best platform for our riders and to continue to grow. Our newest member of staff, Meg, has already played such a huge role in our progression. We are so grateful to have a Female Sports Director who is so committed to our current set up and our visions for the team. We cannot wait to see the team continue to develop over the coming months and years”

- Team Manager Jenny Bolsom

The Elite Development Status gives greater recognition and opportunity with additional exposure across the British Cycling platforms.

“We are investing in Women’s cycling on an equal basis with our Men’s team. The Elite status is testimony to the hard work being done by members of staff. Elite cycling needs infrastructure, committed staff and fan engagement. What a fantastic platform to showcase all that is good about racing”

- Team Owner Richard Pascoe
