Saint Piran Announce the Retainment of 4 Riders
Saint Piran are pleased to announcement the resigning of 4 riders: Alex Richardson, Bradley Symonds, Tom Mazzone and Leon Mazzone.
Alex Richardson
Back in Black for 2023 is our Aero guru Alex Richardson. Known for his aggressive sleek slippery style of racing, we’re excited to see what Alex can achieve with the race calendar the team has in 2023.
Steve Lampier DS “ I am very excited to have Alex back in the Saint Piran scuderia! His style is a perfect blend of aero science and panache. The way he orchestrated the break in the Tour of Britain and won the Nogent UCI race and the Ryedale GP shows he needs to win with style”
Bradley Symonds
Cornish-born Bradley, the longest-standing member of Saint Piran, is back for his 4th season with the team.
Bradley Symonds “My fourth season riding with the squad! Saint Piran has evolved in many ways over the years thanks to the hardworking staff behind the scenes and because of that 2023 is shaping up to be the best year yet. I’m ready to get stuck into a wide range of racing again, from the tour series to some longer hilly races on the continent”
Steve Lampier DS “ The last standing Cornish man! Next season is pivotal for Brad who had an injury-plagued year in ‘22. We’ve yet to see him excel in races and terrain that suits him. I believe in him and can’t wait for you to see him in full flight”
Tom Mazzone
Back for 2023 is our Manxman Tom Mazzone
Tom Mazzone “ My goals are unchanged for 2023. I am motivated, and focused and want to win races, whilst enjoying the process. So, I’m glad to be staying with Saint Piran for another season, with ambitions to do just that. Last year provided more than a fair share of trials and tribulations for myself and the team but towards the end of 2022, we definitely rediscovered the consistency and success that has got the team this far. We are all super motivated to continue and build on that, going into the new season. I have personal goals for numerous events in our race program and I will be ready to go into them even stronger.”
Steve Lampier DS “Tom is the guy you need on the team. Charming, gracious, and bloody fast when he can see the finish line. Tom won our first UCI race the GP Somme in 2021 in a bunch sprint, I am expecting the same if not more from Tom in 2023, who is training well currently on the IoM over Christmas.”
Leon Mazzone
Welcoming back, Leon Mazzone to Saint Piran for 2023.
Leon “I’m looking forward to seeing how 2023 unfolds having my first full season of UCI races under the belt. 2022 was a season I can be happy with but ultimately I want to win bike races at the end of the day and I feel like this is the correct environment to do that.”
Steve Lampier DS "The quieter of the two Mazzones, until you know him! Leon has a handy sprint on him, honed after years of trying to beat his older brother Tom. Consistent in the Tour series and some of our French races the big W eluded him. He is without a doubt fast after a long hard race and in 2023 he will get that win, and then the floodgates will open"
