Steve Lampier rejoins Saint Piran
We are delighted to announce that Steve Lampier is returning to Saint Piran for the coming season.
Steve moved to Ribble Weldtite last year in order to compete in the Tour of Britain that was scheduled to start in Cornwall in September. The event, like so many others, fell victim to COVID-19 and has been postponed until 2021. However, he was fortunate enough to compete for Ribble in the Saudi Tour, one of the last events before all racing was suspended this season.
Steve is very grateful for the opportunity provided by Ribble and said:
“Obviously the pandemic means that things haven’t turned out as we had hoped, but I’ve had some great experiences with the team. The Saudi Tour was a big highlight, of course, and I’ve made many good friends at Ribble. Saint Piran and Ribble will be rivals on the road, but we will be working together to secure the future of our sport and I wish them all the best in the coming season.”
Steve returns to his home county team as both a rider and team manager, bringing years of knowledge and experience that will be of huge benefit to the younger riders both on the road and behind the scenes.
Of course, Steve suffered a horrendous crash at the end of May and it has been a long, hard road to recovery. However, we are very pleased to report that he is now back on the bike, steadily improving and working hard to regain his race fitness in preparation for the coming season. He said:
“I’m very pleased to be back with Saint Piran and looking forward to getting back to racing as soon as possible. The team has some exciting plans for 2020/21 which we will be announcing soon. We hope to give all our supporters, both in Cornwall and elsewhere, plenty to cheer about in the coming season!”
