First win of the season for Saint Piran's Maxwell

Saint Piran’s Ollie Maxwell sprinted to victory in the 32nd edition of the the National B Roy Thame Cup on Saturday. The 120km race over five laps of a rolling Buckinghamshire circuit attracted a field of 80 riders.

An early break with 25km to go was whittled down to three riders, then two before Ollie won the sprint ahead of Jack Freeman.

Ollie was delighted with his win, saying:

“It was an aggressive race from the start. I got myself into a 14 man move which was working well despite some riders missing turns. At around 65km from the finish myself and two others escaped and worked well to get a decent gap. We dropped one rider with 30km to go which left the two of us to duke it out for the finish. I felt confident that I could win. I’am extremely happy to take the victory.”

Congratulations to Ollie from all at Saint Piran.
