A busy weekend for the Development Team

This last week has been a busy time for the Development Team. Several riders were involved with the Saint Piran launch held at Bike Chain Bissoe on Thursday. Our riders were seen interacting with the public, team sponsors, elite riders, the media, as well as meeting one another in person, some for the first time!

This was a great experience for all involved, a great ice breaker and a fantastic opportunity for aspiring professional cyclists to be immersed in the roles and expectations placed on their peers within the elite team.

Friday saw some of the guys meeting for a social ride, another opportunity to chat with riders within the development and elite teams whilst enjoying beautiful Cornwall. Some of our riders made the most of their Saint Piran experience and took part in a locally run Circuit race, with men in the E/1/2 and the 3/4 races. All were racing for experience, to test the legs, to represent Saint Piran and of course to be competitive! Great results in both races, the E/1/2 saw Saint Piran Development taking 1st and 3rd with Travis Bramley and Charlie McFall respectively. Following on from this win, Travis then went on to take the win at the Ladock Time Trial on Sunday morning!

An open event, organised and run by Saint Piran with volunteers from within the set up giving their time to ensure the smooth running of this event. We plan to run several tt’s throughout the year on this course as well as our hill climbs later in the season. Please follow our social media accounts to keep up to date!

Whilst all of this was happening in Cornwall, our other development riders were busy with their training and taking part in other events. Rob McPherson took a strong 10th place at the Sussex Cycle Racing League Winter Circuit Series 2/3 saying that he tactically learnt a lot, but still has lots to learn!

Overall it’s been a fantastic start to the season, we’re very excited to see our riders develop and to follow their stories.
