BIO
I got into cycling after joining my local cycling club (bynea cc) post-2012 Olympics & Tour de France. I used to play rugby and football, but I fell out of love with those sports
after not getting much of a growth spurt compared to other boys, so I was keen on finding another sport to do and found cycling. There are many things that inspire me about cycling in general. I love the freedom, and the sense of adventure, if that’s in local lanes, or far abroad where no one speaks your language. I love being fit and healthy and continuously pushing myself to be better at that. I love meeting people, making new friends and acquaintances, in the past that would make me anxious, but now it’s one of the things I love the most, and cycling has helped that process over the last 10 years. As for the racing side of things, I just really enjoy the pressure, maybe not too much in the moment, but it really is living life to the fullest for me. Making sure I’ve prepared well for each race, making sure I’m following the right moves and keeping the team on the front foot. Rallying the troops and getting the job done for the best result we can get. Outside of cycling I have a few interests, I’m big into my cars, coffee, gaming, food, and similarly to cycling, the people that all of those interests brings you to and experiences you get from it, from jaw dropping moments, to simple pleasures, to paralyzing laughter. Are just things I love living for.
NOTABLE CARRER MOMENTS
My most notable career achievements so far have to be Commonwealth Bronze (scratch race), that was nice on the day, but the more time passes it seems the bigger and bigger that result becomes, I spent years chasing it, and got it. After that it would have to be national champion in the team pursuit, before I retire I just wanted to own a national champs jersey, so that means a lot. Then finally after that I’d have to mention the tour series round win i’ve had, that was an incredible moment too.
CYCLING ASPIRATIONS
My future aspirations for the next year have been impacted by Saint Piran, and that would be mainly just to push myself to the best version of myself on the road. For the past 10 years I’ve always been a track rider first, then road rider second, this year I want to swap that around. Still juggling both but this team has given me the opportunity to pursue that road ambition, properly. I don’t have very specific race results in mind, but if I can become my best self, results will come.
