Saint Piran Win Under 23 British Cycling Road Race Series

How important is the domestic calendar?

In a time when much has been said and documented by many in the news and media about the demise of UK cycle racing. There are numerous examples of the regeneration of the domestic calendar. It’s true there are more opportunities abroad, predominantly because of the caliber of British they are sought after because of the profile of British Cycling. Recently the resurgence of new organisers, a national race series, and a new crop of emerging riders has meant a progressive domestic scene

Saint Pirans first aim for 2024 was to capture the U23 road race series. In previous years mainly through budget constraints, the team did not support the U23 season. This year we planned to support the U23 series, and we felt it is important to show representation at this level.

This reflects the very core of Saint Piran to progress our staff and riders to be the best they can be. So we are particularly excited to have won the Under 23 road series with the fantastic talent Rowan Baker. That's without mentioning Dylan Hicks’ win in the previous round and his joint second place overall in the series.

This program is particularly difficult for young riders as they are being stretched by an overseas race program that features many stage races is that necessary for their development. We are mindful especially in this circumstance that our health and wellbeing partner EDeila has been key in supporting our riders.
