Saint Piran USKIS Announces Rhys Robotham

Our last rider to join our USKIS development team is Australian Rhys Robotham. Rhys has enjoyed success this year with some top results in Australian National races this year including a 2nd overall at the Tour of Tasmania. We look forward to helping Rhys develop as a rider and to allow him to race in the UK and European circuits next year

“Rhys is coming from Team Bridgelane who are a Continental team in Australia. That shows the strength of the measure that we though have in our Development Team. Rhys wants to make his mark on the European circuit so it’s our responsibility to offer him opportunities both at national level in the UK and in point two races in France to develop winners and to learn winning strategies. Rhys has recently had a fantastic second place in a Tour Tasmania, so that bodes well and anybody that's prepared to move from one side of the world to the other shows a very strong commitment. Through our dialogue with Rhys over the last couple of months and his completed Performance Review we are looking forward to like to seeing him race on British and other european roads not unlike what Cooper Sayers did for Saint Piran in the UCI team in previous seasons. We have super strong relationships with teams from Down Under and we want to build that this year into something a bit special here in the UK” - Richard Pascoe

"Rhys applied to join Saint Piran through our recently established application process designed to ensure that at Saint Piran, we select our riders in an open, transparent and equal way. As a result of the process (that includes the full performance review which benchmarks riders against our Conti team) and the positive conversations I had with Rhys thereafter, we were delighted to offer him a place on our USKIS Saint Piran Development team in order to assist him to develop further by racing in the UK and other parts of Europe in 2024. Being prepared to move from one side of the world to another shows real commitment and we believe that we will be able to help him achieve his future cycling goals. I'm really looking forward to working with him and wish him luck in the Australian National Championships in early January." John Trott - Saint Piran Director of Cycling

“I believe joining the Saint Piran USKIS team will be instrumental in my journey, providing a platform for racing experience and skill development. I have seen the team's positive attitude, balancing performance and enjoyment, is a key factor in its success which is something I am looking to be a part of. I look forward to the opportunities and challenges of the upcoming year with Saint Piran” - Rhys Robotham
