Tour Series Round Three – Castle Douglas Preview

The Tour Series concludes tonight just across the Scottish border in Castle Douglas.

For Saint Piran, Stephen Bradbury, Steve Lampier, Ollie Maxwell and Tom Mazzone are on the start line again. However, Bradley Symonds replaces Jacob Hennessy who suffered a back injury after getting caught up in an early crash in Sunday’s opener. Jacob started in Sunderland on Tuesday, but was forced to retire after a few laps.

Tom Mazzone said:

“The original game plan was to help Jacob achieve a good individual result but obviously he had to drop out because of his injury. We raced aggressively though, with all the rest of us at the front for the whole of the race.

As a team, it was definitely a step in the right direction and that showed in the result, as we were fifth team on the night. It’s not the result we were looking for but we rode well together as a unit. We’ll look to build on that today.”

This evening in Castle Douglas will be a much tighter affair than Sunderland’s rectangular course, with no fewer than eight corners promising some close racing. Tom says that:

“Compared to Sunderland, which was really fast, Castle Douglas is a tight, technical one, so I imagine it will split up a bit more with people kicking out of the corners. Brad’s come up today to replace Jacob and together we will look to build on Tuesday’s result.”

The timetable for tonight

Women’s Race: 6:00 to 6:50pm. Men’s Race: 7:30 to 8:45pm

TV highlights on ITV4 at 7pm tomorrow (Friday)
